A little history...
Dr.'s Joseph and Sarah Paun have an extensive history with health and wellness. They both experienced a natural interest during child-hood and decided to make a formal education of it.
Dr. Sarah Paun received her undergraduate degree in nutrition but then began to have a more person interest in the emotional and psychological aspects of food, diet, and nutrition.
Dr. Joseph Paun received his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Chemistry but shortly after completing his Doctor of Chiropractic degree had an intense desire to seek his Master's Degree in Human Nutrition.
Together they have combined their philosophy, strategy, and education to impact anybody looking to improve their overall health with food and nutrition.
More importantly, they view themselves as nutrition advocates after being extremely disappointed with the hundreds of cases where people are given wrong information.
Their overall goal is to be a positive coaching support system to improve their patients' quality of life!
C.H.O.I.C.E.S Program Outline:

Our ultimate goal was to create a COMPREHENSIVE weight loss program. Obviously, we have a biased opinion, but we feel as though there is not one weight loss program that successfully pulls of all of the components of weight loss together.
We have outlined a 16 week program that will cover about a 4-5 month time frame. A long term commitment is key to success. Statistics show that 95% of weight loss fails to be maintained over a 5 year period. You need to be prepared to commit a significant amount of time to truly create a life style change. It is quite easy to make dramatic change for a few weeks or months, but long term success requires more. We give you the tools to position yourself for long term success.
We will hold EDUCATIONAL lectures (pre-set dates and times) and the topics we will review include 3 main categories:
Emotional/Mental Strategy - Dr.'s Joseph and Sarah Paun feel that this is THE most important component to weight loss. Thus, they start the program focusing on this topic. We can retain endless amounts of knowledge in regards to exercise and nutrition BUT if we can't understand and break into our personal mental limitations then the knowledge will NEVER be effectively used.
Nutrition - This is Dr. Joe's passion! Over the last few decades our food industry has changed drastically. Our food is processed with preservatives, additives, artificial sweeteners, hormones, high fructose corn syrup, etc. It's as if we aren't consuming "food" any more. Convenience has come to dominate our lifestyle. Not to mention the mass media confusion on what "healthy" food is. The truth is that fat free, sugar free diets are NOT healthy! Shocking, we know. Dr. Joe thoroughly enjoys giving you a basic and simple understanding of what whole foods are. Moreover, he will give you practical tools for you to implement this knowledge to get you through your daily lifestyle demands. Don't be fooled, it will be difficult but we will coach you through out the entire process.
Physical Activity - Research shows that ONLY 26% of people engage in rigorous physical activity at a minimum of 3 times a week! Yet, being active is as Dr. Joe refers to “your miracle drug". There is no denying the healthy benefits (cardiovascular, mental, cancer, osteoporosis, etc.) of physical activity regardless of weight loss. Our bodies are made to move! Our goal is to simply get you in the routine of being active and then take baby steps from there. At the end of the program our goal is to have you incorporating both cardiovascular exercise with weight training. With this, the weight loss AND nutritional benefits will simply follow.
One-to-one COACHING will be incorporated as well. Believe it or not, this was the foundation for us creating the program. We found that within our private practice, the more frequent we met with a patient the better the success they had. During his short 2 years in practice, Dr. Joe has coached several people to a 80lb. weight loss with simple COACHING. It TRULY helps to maintain motivation and prevent discouragement. And guess what? The RESEARCH shows the better the attendance for weight loss meeting encounters the better the success! This is where we will create INDIVIDUALIZED and GOAL ORIENTED baby steps to help you through the process. This will also be the time to review any potential health limitations, lab reports, and body fat analysis reports, food journals and/or supplementation if needed.
Body Fat Analysis - Every other month we will run a bio-electrical impendence test (body fat) which will analyze your body’s composition. The main components we analyze will be %fat, muscle mass, and hydration levels. This is very important because many weight loss programs will get results in pounds lost but not good quality results with body composition. When you are looking to lose weight, it is most beneficial to maintain hydration, decrease fat and increase muscle mass. If you don't accomplish these goals then you are doing it WRONG! This is also invaluable information because some people will make slower progress and be discouraged with that but if you can find improvement with their body fat composition you still know you are making progress towards health.
Hypno-Puncture - Dr.'s Joe and Sarah began combining hypnotherapy with acupuncture for weight loss 2 years ago and they had PHENOMINAL results. As with any weight loss attempt, this does require maintenance but we do see this to be a very beneficial component. With this, we use positive affirmations created by YOU to influence your subconscious thoughts in combination with acupuncture to de-stress, influence hormonal imbalances and suppress appetite. We plan to utilize this every other month as well.
C.H.O.I.C.E.S Financials
The total cost of the program is $500. We have a paid in full option and a monthly payment option (after enrollment fee).
We require a $300 enrollment fee. This covers many of our costs involved with providing weight loss services (room fees, materials, labwork, etc).
After that, we require a cc on file for an automatic withdrawal of $50 per month. This is regardless of your attendance.
If you decide to pay for the entire program up front you can receive a 10% discount on the total package ($50)
